ブルーシリマナイト(左) / Blue Sillimanite

Blue Sillimanite (left)

Sillimanite is transparent with a faint blue hue.
Although it has a beautiful transparency, it is found scattered within host rocks in volcanic regions, etc., making it difficult for miners to identify and difficult for processors to cut, making it a natural stone that is attractive for its tricky nature.
Its strength is equivalent to that of quartz, but it is rare to find transparent crystals suitable for faceting, and most are sold as cabochons, making faceted loose stones a rare gemstone.
Origin: Sri Lanka
