Lapis lazuli

Lapis lazuli has been said to be a sacred stone that symbolizes the heavens.
When you look at the deep, vivid blue color and the pyrite inclusions that resemble stars, it's easy to see why this has been said.

The Japanese name is "Ruri".
Lapis lazuli blue is described not only as lapis lazuli, but also as ultramarine, royal blue, and midnight blue, but all of these have a slight purple tint to them, which I think is a metaphor for the transition from the crimson-tinted evening sky, where blue and red mix together to create a purple-tinged sky, into the pitch-black night.

Lapis lazuli is also the birthstone for December.
Due to the beauty of its stunningly vivid blue color, it is one of our favorite stones in talkative's collection.
